The first BluPoint Ambassadors from Dixons Carphone have just landed in South Africa to join the BluPoint installation team. The volunteers are helping integrate BluPoint technology into fifteen schools across Durban. An initiative with the MRP Foundation, a leading non-profit and public benefit organisation.
Since 2005 the MRP Foundation has strived to change the lives of young South Africans. Many of whom are less privileged. Education and skills development are core to their work and to creating lasting and positive change for the students.
Education is the great engine of personal development”
~ Nelson Mandela
Dixons Carphone understand the importance of engaging with good causes. Their BluPoint Ambassadors were chosen from across the whole spectrum of their organisation. The award winning company have sent five of their employees to Durban, with five to follow later in the year.
As part of the BluPoint team, I look forward to working on something that could greatly improve the lives of children, provide them with free access to educational content and help them achieve their potential.”
~ Emma Whitmore, Project Manager
BluPoint’s founder is also on the ground in South Africa and overseeing the deployment:
We are delighted to be working with Dixons Carphone and the MRP Foundation in Durban. What excites us most is the chance to help young people help themselves. We are looking forward to seeing the difference this makes to these children. Fun, educational content, free of charge and without technological barriers. This will make a lasting positive change.”
~ Adj. Professor Mike Santer.

BluPoint technology is at the heart of this initiative providing curated digital content which works with the mobile technology already at hand, from the latest smartphones, to vintage feature phones and even FM radio.
Inclusive by design, BluPoint’s technology extends the reach of organisations to communities unable to connect to the Internet. The low power requirements and robust build brings equitable access to digital content anywhere on any device and is free to use.
Intermittent power outages, dust, heat or torrential rain. Bring it on. Even the remotest rural areas can now be connected. BluPoint’s solar powered Hubs bridge the digital divide.
The BluPoint Ambassadors are keen to share their experience with their colleagues in the UK. They even have their own videographer to record their experience as Emma explains:
While we are over in South Africa, as ambassadors, we aim to be the eyes and ears of Dixons Carphone and can’t wait to tell our colleagues and the rest of the world our story. So keep your eyes peeled for further updates of our amazing journey!”
